The Gaithersburg Community Museum, in Gaithersburg, MD, provides a dynamic transportation and history experience for the whole family in Olde Towne Gaithersburg. Located in the restored 1884 B&O Railroad Station complex, the museum features educational exhibits and programs designed to spark interest and imagination in Gaithersburg's history.

In its Mapping Gaithersburg: From Wilderness to Metropolis exhibit, the museum shows how the city—originally settled in 1765 and named "Logtown"—has changed over time. From wilderness to settlement, from settlement to village, from village to town, and from town to city, the exhibit uses maps and census data to show how the land was used, who lived on it, and how the community has grown. The exhibit is the result of a combined effort of the Community Museum and the GIS Division of the city's Information Technology Department.
