Encontrar ‘anomalías’ demuestra que los controles de calidad del Censo del 2020 funcionan
El 9 de marzo de 2021, la Oficina del Censo de los EE. UU. publicó un blog (en inglés) sobre las “anomalías” que encontramos al procesar los datos del Censo del 2020.
La Oficina del Censo explicó que la palabra “anomalía” solo significa que encontró algo en su proceso de revisión de calidad que no parece estar del todo bien. Las anomalías que se encuentran durante el procesamiento no son errores en el censo, pero pueden convertirse en errores si no se las revisa y se las resuelve.
Encontrar estas anomalías es una señal de que los controles de calidad del censo funcionan, y le da una oportunidad a la Oficina del Censo para arreglar cualquier problema que se confirme.
La Oficina del Censo ha encontrado 33 anomalías, que se dividen en tres categorías principales:
- Anomalías “estándares” que se relacionan con la codificación de los datos. Este tipo de anomalía surge durante el procesamiento de cualquier censo o encuesta.
- Anomalías ocasionadas por acciones de las personas encuestadas, no anticipadas por la Oficina del Censo.
- Anomalías ocasionadas por acciones no anticipadas de los censistas.
La Oficina del Censo proporcionó ejemplos de cada categoría y explicó que 27 de las 33 anomalías correspondían a la primera categoría.
La Oficina del Censo ha corregido o está corrigiendo todas las anomalías identificadas hasta ahora y continuará buscando y corrigiendo cualquier otra que surja a medida que continúe el procesamiento de los datos.
