JULY 9, 2024 — The U.S. Census Bureau will hold a prerelease webinar July 23 to discuss information about the 2020 Census Detailed Demographic and Housing Characteristics File B (Detailed DHC-B) scheduled for public release Aug. 1. This data product provides household type and tenure (whether the household is owner or renter-occupied) information, including total household counts, for approximately 1,500 detailed race and ethnicity groups and detailed American Indian and Alaska Native (AIAN) tribes and villages.
Data will be available for the nation, states, counties, places (cities and towns), census tracts, and American Indian/Alaska Native/Native Hawaiian (AIANNH) areas. The amount of data available for the detailed and regional racial and ethnic groups and AIAN tribes and villages depends on their population size within a specific geography. This approach allows the Census Bureau to produce as much detail as possible while ensuring the data meet the Census Bureau’s accuracy standards while also providing strong confidentiality protections.
Embargoed subscribers will have access to these statistics from Tuesday, July 30, at 10 a.m. EDT to Thursday, Aug. 1, at 12:01 a.m. EDT.
The webinar will also include information on how to access the data. A live Q&A session with Census Bureau subject-matter experts will immediately follow the briefing.
Tuesday, July 23 at 2 p.m. EDT.
The event will be recorded and available for viewing in the 2020 Census Detailed DHC-B Press Kit. A transcript will also be available in the press kit.
The webinar will consist of an online presentation. Credentialed media and data users will be able to ask questions following the presentation.
