The American Community Survey (ACS) sample is designed to assure reliable estimates for small geographic areas. Some data users have raised concerns that the 5-year ACS estimates do not provide sound estimates for small population groups. The focus of this report was to assess the reliability of characteristics by major race groups, by detailed Asian and Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander groups, and by American Indian/Alaska Native (AIAN) tribal groupings.
