Notice of Revision Monthly Wholesale sales, inventories, and inventories-to-sales ratios were revised based on the results of the 2024 Annual Integrated Economic Survey (AIES) estimates. Revised not adjusted and corresponding adjusted estimates were released on our website on October 26, 2026.
Summary of Revisions Not adjusted estimates of monthly wholesale sales were revised for January 2018 through August 2026. Corresponding seasonally adjusted estimates of monthly wholesale sales were revised for January 2015 through August 2026. Not adjusted monthly wholesale end-of-month inventories estimates were revised for January 2018 through August 2026. Corresponding seasonally adjusted monthly wholesale end-of-month inventories estimates were revised for January 2015 through August 2026. Coefficients of variation (CVs) of totals and standard errors of ratios (SEs) for monthly wholesale sales and monthly wholesale end-of-month inventories were revised for March 2018 through August 2026. Revisions to not adjusted estimates were made in two parts: First, revisions were made to prior Monthly Wholesale Trade estimates to reflect historical corrections. Then, revisions were made when benchmarking the Monthly Wholesale Trade estimates to the 2024 Annual Integrated Economic Survey (AIES) estimates. Due to suppressions in the AIES 2023 end-of-year inventories, December end-of-month inventories for 2023 and 2024 in NAICS 4231 (Motor vehicle and motor vehicle parts and supplies merchant wholesalers) and NAICS 42343 (Computer and computer peripheral equipment and software merchant wholesalers) and associated aggregates will not match published AIES end-of-year inventories. Revisions to seasonally adjusted estimates were made based on the revised not adjusted estimates and revised seasonal adjustment factors.
