The U.S. Census Bureau is updating its economic indicator release calendar in coordination with other agencies and the Office of Management and Budget to address the impacts of the recent lapse in federal funding. We will provide the updated release schedule as soon as it becomes available. For more information, see Census' Recovery Plan for Principal Federal Economic Indicators.

The October 2025 release for Advance Monthly Sales for Retail and Food Services and the September 2025 release for Monthly Retail Trade and Food Services, originally scheduled for November 14, 2025, have been rescheduled for release on December 16, 2025. For more information, see the Economic Indicators Release Schedule.

Time Series Data

Notes:

* Sales data are adjusted for seasonal, holiday, and trading-day differences, but not for price changes. See the Adjustment Factors for Seasonal and Other Variations of Monthly Estimates for more information.

1 - Kinds of business marked with a '1' calculate seasonally adjusted estimates directly. This means that their seasonally adjusted estimates equal their not adjusted estimates divided by their corresponding seasonal factors. The other kinds of business calculate seasonally adjusted estimates indirectly. This means that their seasonally adjusted estimates are sums of seasonally adjusted estimates for more detailed kinds of business, which may or may not be published. For data users interested in modeling and forecasting, we provide direct adjustment factors for most kinds of business, including those that are indirectly seasonally adjusted.
