The U.S. Census Bureau conducts more than 100 surveys each year.  These surveys include the business surveys listed below, and many more. To find more information on a specific survey you received please select it from the list of business surveys below.


Advance Monthly Sales for Retail and Food Services (MARTS)
Provides an early indication of sales of retail and food service companies.


Annual Business Survey (ABS)
Provides annual data on select economic and demographic characteristics of employer businesses, including annual R&D estimates.


Annual Integrated Economic Survey (AIES)
Provides key annual data on economic activity including the only comprehensive national and subnational data on business revenues, expenses, and assets.


Annual Parole Survey & Annual Probation Survey
Data collected by the U.S. Census Bureau. Statistics released by partner federal agency.


Annual Services Report (Service Annual Survey)
Provides estimates of revenue and other measures for most traditional service industries.


Annual Survey of Jails
Data collected by the U.S. Census Bureau. Statistics released by partner federal agency.


Annual Survey of Public Employment & Payroll (ASPEP)
Provides state and local government data on full-time and part-time employment, part-time hours worked, full-time equivalent employment, and payroll statistics.


Annual Survey of School System Finances
Provides statistics about the finances of elementary and secondary public school systems.


Annual Survey of State Government Tax Collections (STC)
Provides a summary of taxes collected by state for 5 broad tax categories and up to 25 tax subcategories.


Annual Survey of State and Local Government Finances
Provides periodic and comprehensive statistics about governments and governmental financial activities.


Building Permits Survey (BPS)
Provides national, state, and local estimates on new or privately-owned residential construction.


Business Enterprise Research and Development Survey (BERD)
Provides estimates on global and domestic R&D expenses of U.S. based companies.


Business Trends and Outlook Survey (BTOS)
Provides insights with timely, high frequency data across all nonfarm sectors of the economy.


Business and Professional Classification Survey
Obtains information necessary to identify and classify businesses to update the samples for current business surveys and the Economic Census.


Census of Governments
Identifies the scope and nature of the nation's state and local government sector and measures federal, state, and local fiscal relationships.


Census of Jails
Part of a series of data collections that study the nation's local jails.


Census of Juveniles in Resident Placement (CJRP)
Provides a count of juveniles in state, county, municipal and privately run juvenile correctional facilities.


Census of State and Federal Adult Correctional Facilities
Data collected by the U.S. Census Bureau. Statistics released by partner federal agency.


Commodity Flow Survey (CFS)
Provides estimates on shipments originating from selected types of business establishments located in the U.S.


Common Core of Data (CCD)
Collects fiscal and non-fiscal data about all public schools, public school districts and state education agencies in the United States.


Construction Progress Reporting Survey (CPRS)
Provides monthly estimates on the total dollar value of construction work done in the U.S.


County Business Patterns (CBP)
An annual series that provides subnational economic data by industry.


Economic Census
Provides official measures of output for industries and geographic areas and serves as the cornerstone of the nation's economic statistics.


Economic Census Industry Classification Report
This report determines a NAICS code for single-unit establishments where the Census Bureau does not have a complete NAICS code.


Export Statistics
Provides detailed statistics on goods and estimates of services shipped from the U.S. to foreign countries.


Exports from Manufacturing Establishments
Provides estimates for the value of manufactured exports and related employment.


Federal Assistance Awards Data System (FAADS)
Provides current information on awards of Federal financial assistance to non-Federal organizations and individuals.


Federal Audit Clearinghouse (FAC)
The Federal Audit Clearinghouse (FAC) operates on behalf of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).


Import Statistics
Provides detailed statistics on goods and estimates of services entering the U.S. from foreign countries.


Justice Assistance Data Survey
This direct survey of governments collects detailed justice expenditure data.


Juvenile Residential Facility Census (JRFC)
Provides a count of juveniles in state, county, municipal and privately run juvenile correctional facilities.


Management and Organizational Practices Survey (MOPS)
Provides information on the use of decentralized decision rights, data-driven decision making, and investments in human capital.


Manufactured Housing Survey (MHS)
Produces monthly regional estimates of new manufactured home placements, average sales prices, and dealers' inventories.


Manufacturers' Shipments, Inventories, and Orders Survey (M3)
Provides monthly estimates on current economic conditions and indications of future production commitments in the manufacturing sector.


Manufacturing Energy Consumption Survey (MECS)
Provides estimates on energy consumption in the manufacturing sector.


Medical Expenditure Panel Survey (MEPS)
Provides estimates on private and public sector employer-sponsored health insurance coverage.
