Exploring Centers of Population Through the Decades

Exploring Centers of Population Through the Decades

This 5-Minute Challenge warm-up activity has students explore an interactive story map to learn about the nation’s center of population and how technology and the development of infrastructure like railways and roads have influenced its movement throughout the decades.

This teaching guide includes many activities for students to do with their teacher in class or their parents/caregivers at home. Give students time to read and digest the information in the interactive story map to learn about the nation’s center of population before discussing it. Then use this teaching guide for ideas on how to teach about the center of population with different subjects like math, English, history, and geography with students at different grade levels.
