Educators can bring their classrooms to life with real world data and inspire young learners to explore statistics that help explain the U.S. population. From data on the number of students enrolled in grades 5–8, the states with the youngest populations, and future demographic changes, use this handout during Middle Level Education Month, National Child’s Day, or other observances to give young adolescents a new perspective about their state and the nation.
Then build on their learning experience by challenging them to learn more by analyzing an infographic for cool trends or take a deeper dive by completing a Statistics in Schools (SIS) activity that uses census data across a variety of subjects like math, English, history/social studies, and more.
