Students will analyze and compare census data on the earnings of people with different college majors. Then they will write their own word problems and draw conclusions about the data.

  • Students will be able to compare and contrast dollar amounts in the millions.
  • Students will be able to create and solve word problems using addition and subtraction.
  • Students will be able to analyze and draw conclusions about census data.

Materials Required

  • The student version of this activity, 6 pages
  • Crayons or colored pencils
  • Teacher computer with Internet access and a projector to display web sites

A computer with Internet access for each student and pretend money for the class are optional.
