From Fathers to Fireworks: Learn Something New This Summer With Census

Recognize the month with statistical resources related to Father’s Day, Fourth of July, the wedding season and more and help students strengthen their statistical literacy skills while having fun! Our Census Bureau stats introduce kids to cool data like the total number of U.S. candy and nut stores and the median age of U.S. women at first marriage.

New Caribbean American Heritage Month Kahoot! Game

It’s National Caribbean-American Heritage Month! Have students play our new Kahoot! game to learn about all things Caribbean like the number of people with Caribbean or West Indian ancestry in the United States and the two U.S. metro areas with the highest concentration of people of Jamaican or Haitian ancestry.

Wedding Bells!

June is among the most popular months to marry. Celebrate with this high school activity featuring data such as the median age of women when they first marry and the percentage of women ages 25-34 with a bachelor’s degree or higher. Students can predict and test the significance of the relationship between the two data variables.

National Candy Month
What sweeter way to kick off June – National Candy Month – than to check out awesome Census Bureau stats like how many candy and nut stores (3,320) there were in the United States in 2020? Have students explore the number of candy and nut stores in their states using the State Facts for Students data tool. They can also use the tool to find out other fun information like the number of U.S. homes with a computer and the total number of people who biked to work and more.

For many, summer means trips to the beach, family vacations and no school! Test your knowledge on a variety of summer-related topics powered by Census Bureau data. Students can learn which states had the most amusement parks or zoos and botanical gardens and the number of U.S. travel agencies and RV campgrounds all while exploring real-life data.
