Many researchers have pondered the potential effect of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) on the labor force. In 2014, with the implementation of major provisions of ACA, the uninsured rate fell almost 3 percentage points, and more than twice that for people who worked less than full time, year round (6.3 percentage points).  Though the majority of people obtain health insurance through an employer (55 percent), for the newly insured part-time workers, most obtained their health insurance coverage through Medicaid or direct purchase (directly purchasing their health insurance from an insurance provider or through an exchange), rather than through their employer.  Using data from the American Community Survey, this poster explores the shift in health insurance coverage for workers.  In particular, we highlight occupations that saw large increases in insurance take-up, and the characteristics of workers in these occupations.
