This report outlines the fellow’s professional development and research at the U.S. Census Bureau through the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Internship Program (NSF GRIP). The fellow investigated traditional multiple synthesis and a model-based differentially private data synthesis (MODIPS) methods to assess the feasibility and practicality of applying differential privacy on real-world data sets. In the Appendix, the fellow outlines the professional development in both collaborative and communication skills by expanding professional networks within and outside of the U.S. Census Bureau, presenting research, and meeting with scientists.
