Estimates of the Population of Voting Age for States: November 1952

Abstract

About 7 ½ million civilians will be old enough to vote for the first time in the next presidential election on November 4, 1952, according to estimates announced today by Roy V. Peel, Director, Bureau of the Census, Department of Commerce. In November of this year, the total number of civilians old enough to vote will reach about 98.4 million; in 1948 the corresponding number was 94.9 million. These totals include the civilians population 21 years old and over for all states and the civilian population 18 to 20 years of age for Georgia where persons as young as 18 years are permitted by law to vote. They do not include members of the armed forces.
