Table 1.  "List of Elements Collected in the Automated Export System"

For a complete listing of all data required and the conditions for filing, please refer to the Automated Export System Trade Interface Requirements (AESTIR) document on the public Customs web site under “export” or on the AES section of the public Census web site.

Data Element

Description

Filer ID

Identification for the party filing the commodity shipment information; must be either DUNS or EIN.

USPPI ID

USPPI identification number (DUNS, EIN, or Foreign Entity).

USPPI ID Type

DUNS, EIN, or Foreign Entity.

USPPI Name

Company name.

Related Company Indicator

Indicates ownership by either USPPI or ultimate consignee of 10% or more of the other’s voting securities.

Mode of Transportation Code (MOT)

The Mode of Transportation by which the merchandise is exported.

Country of Ultimate Destination Code

ISO Code for Country of Destination.

U.S. State of Origin Code

Two letter state code where goods originated.

Carrier ID (SCAC/IATA)

SCAC/IATA Code.

Shipment Reference Number

Unique identifier of the shipment.

Shipment Filing Action Request Indicator

The AES action requested for this commodity shipment transaction: Add, Replace, Change, Cancel

Conveyance Name/Carrier Name

Vessel/Carrier name.

Filing Option Indicator

An indication as to the type of filing ‘option’ chosen by the filer for the commodity shipment transaction.

AEI Filing Type

This is an indication as to the type of data being filed in conjunction with Filing Option Indicator ‘3’.

Port of Unlading Code

Schedule K or D code (for exports between US and Puerto Rico) identifying where goods will unload. Required for all vessel and some air shipments.

Port of Exportation Code

Schedule D Code for port of export or border crossing point.

Estimated Date of Export

Date of Departure from the Port of Export.

Hazardous Material Indicator(HAZMAT)

An indication that the shipment contains hazardous material as defined by the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Inbond Code

An indication of whether the shipment is being transported under bond.

Entry Number

If in-bond, the in-bond entry number must be provided. If shipment is transiting to a third party country but entry is made in the US instead of using an in-bond process, the import entry number must be provided.

Foreign Trade Zone Identifier

Identity of the Foreign Trade Zone from which the merchandise was withdrawn.

Routed Export Transaction Indicator

An indication that the foreign principal party in interest has authorized a U.S. forwarding or other agent to facilitate the export of the merchandise from the U.S.

Equipment Number

The identity of the equipment or shipping container that contains the cargo.

Seal Number

The number from the Customs and Border Protection seal on a shipping container.

Transportation Reference Number

Number referencing a transportation booking, bill of lading, pro-bill, or master air waybill

Party ID

Identification for a US Principal Party in Interest, Forwarding Agent, Ultimate Consignee, or Intermediate Consignee.

Party ID Type

Either DUNS, EIN, or foreign entity.

Party Name

Company or enterprise name.

Contact First Name

Company contact first name/title.

Contact Last Name

Company contact last name.

Company contact last name.

A claim that the consignee is unknown at the time of shipment.

Address Line 1

Street address for party.

Address Line 2

Street address for party.

Contact Phone Number

Phone Number for party.

City

City for party.

State Code

State abbreviation for party.

Country Code

Country abbreviation for party.

Postal Code

Zip code for party.

Ultimate Consignee Type

Either Direct Consumer, Government Entity, Other/Unknown, or Reseller.

Export Information Code

A code that indicates the Export Type.

Commodity Description

Description of the goods.

License Value

Value for a licensable shipment that will not include any overhead like insurance, domestic freight or other charges in whole US dollars.

License Code/License Exemption Code

Indicates license type, not unique license number.

Foreign/Domestic Origin Indicator

Indicates origin of the commodity being shipped Either Domestic or Foreign.

Schedule B/HTS Number

Schedule B or HTS Code for goods being shipped.

Unit of Measure (1)

A Unit of Measure code that corresponds to the first quantity (Quantity 1) as prescribed by the Schedule B/HTS number reported.

Quantity (1)

Total number of units that correspond to the first unit (Unit of Measure 1).

Value of Goods

Value of the commodity reported in whole U.S. dollars.

Unit of Measure (2)Indicator

A Unit of Measure code that corresponds to the second quantity (Quantity 2) as prescribed by the Schedule B/HTS number reported.

Quantity (2)

Total number of units that correspond to the second unit (Unit of Measure 2).

Shipping Weight

Weight in whole kilograms.

Export Control Classification Number ( ECCN)

An Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) as issued by the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS).

Export License Number/ CFR Citation/ Authorization Symbol/KCP#/ ACM#

Can only be one of these: export license number, Code of Federal Regulations citation, authorization symbol, or Kimberley Process Certificate Number number assigned for rough diamond export).

DDTC ITAR Exemption Number

The specific citation (exemption number) under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) from the Code of Federal Register (see 22 CFR 120-130) that exempts the shipment from the requirements for a license or other written authorization from the Directorate of Trade Controls (DDTC).

DDTC Registration Number

DDTC assigned registration number to registered manufacturer or exporter that has authorization from DDTC to export the shipment.

DDTC Significant Military Equipment

An indication that the articles reported

(SME) Indicator

warrant special export controls because of their capacity for substantial military utility of capability.

DDTC Eligible Party Certification Indicator

Self-certification indicator by the exporter.

DDTC USML Category Code

The DDTC U.S. Munitions List (USML) category of article, service, or related technical data as is applies to the article reported.

DDTC Unit of Measure Code

The Unit of Measure for the article being shipped. The Unit of Measure provided on the export authorization.

DDTC Quantity

Total number of units that correspond to the DDTC measure reported.

Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)/Product ID

Identification of the reported used vehicle. Report a ‘Product ID’ number for used self-propelled vehicles that do not have a VIN.

Vehicle ID Qualifier

Distinguishes between VIN and Product ID.

Vehicle Title Number

Title number as issued by a Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA).

Vehicle Title State Code

U.S. State code of the Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) that issued the title.

PGA ID

Three character identification for the Participating Government Agency.

AMS Export Certification Number

Report if PGA ID is AM1.

EPA Consent Number

Report if PGA ID is EP1.

RCRA Hazardous Waste Manifest Tracking Number

Report if PGA ID is EP1.

EPA Net Quantity Unit of Measurement

Report if PGA ID is EP1.

EPA Net Quantity

Report if PGA ID is EP1.

** Some data elements listed as being collected in the AES are also collected in the Manifest section, although the definitions may not be exactly the same.  These include:  Mot, carrier code, port of lading, estimated date of departure, foreign port, export information code, country of destination, hazmat flag, party information (id, type, name, contact name, address and phone number, and VIN number.
