This is a final Census Report on Manufactures of the Twelfth Census, taken in the year 1900.
Part III, which constitutes Volume IX of the Census Reports, includes 33 individually signed special reports for selected industries. The reports comprise both analytic texts and statistical tabulations and include manufactures of cotton, wool, silk, clothing, buttons, tobacco, ice, glass, and products from numerous other industries.
Census statistics date back to 1790 and reflect the growth and change of the United States. Past census reports contain some terms that today’s readers may consider obsolete and inappropriate. As part of our goal to be open and transparent with the public, we are improving access to all Census Bureau original publications and statistics, which serve as a guide to the nation's history.
