2024 Hurricane Ernesto

Ernesto strengthened into a Category 1 hurricane early Wednesday morning after bringing tropical storm conditions to northern parts of the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

The storm’s center has moved into open water, with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph, but the heavy rains and strong winds that had battered the islands since Tuesday night continued into Wednesday, and power outages were mounting. In the coming days, the storm could grow to be a large and powerful Category 3, the National Hurricane Center said, before threatening Bermuda by Friday or Saturday.

My Community Explorer (MCE) is a map-based dashboard that provides selected demographic, business, and resilience information to help users identify potentially underserved areas of their state, counties, and communities. MCE also allows users to see the relationship of underserved communities to current natural disasters such as wildfires, hurricanes, air quality, extreme heat, and other severe weather events.
