Quarterly Retail E-Commerce Sales Report

The Census Bureau of the Department of Commerce announced today that the estimate of U.S. retail e-commerce sales for the second quarter of 2026, adjusted for seasonal variation, but not for price changes, was $340.2 billion, an increase of 3.8 percent (±0.4 percent) from the first quarter of 2026. Total retail sales for the second quarter of 2026 were estimated at $1,986.5 billion, an increase of 2.9 percent (±0.2 percent) from the first quarter of 2026. The second quarter 2026 e-commerce estimate increased 12.2 percent (±0.9 percent) from the second quarter of 2025 while total retail sales increased 6.7 percent (±0.5 percent) in the same period. E-commerce sales in the second quarter of 2026 accounted for 17.1 percent of total sales.

On a not adjusted basis, the estimate of U.S. retail e-commerce sales for the second quarter of 2026 totaled $329.5 billion, a increase of 9.4 percent (±0.4 percent) from the first quarter of 2026. The second quarter 2026 e-commerce estimate increased 12.4 percent (±0.9 percent) from the second quarter of 2025 while total retail sales increased 6.6 percent (±0.5 percent) in the same period. E-commerce sales in the second quarter of 2026 accounted for 16.4 percent of total sales.
