Growth of the Population Elements: 1790 to 1890

This chart shows the growth of the makeup of the United States’ population beginning in 1830 and continuing through 1890, the latest Decennial Census information available before the chart was published in 1898.  This chart is a portion of a larger chart which begins in 1790 with only the categories of “Native Stock” and “Colored” appearing until the first wave of immigration charted during the mid-1830s.
