2019 SIPP: Updates to Residence Allocation Methods and Status Flags

 

Beginning with 2019 SIPP, hot deck imputation was added to the editing process for EEHC_PVTEN (previous tenure status) to improve data accuracy. This update resulted in the inclusion of values of 2 for status flag AEHC_PVTEN, denoting hot deck imputation.

Also, as of the 2019 SIPP, other updates were made to status flags to reflect the data imputation processes more accurately. More status flags distinguish between 2s and Beginning with 2019 SIPP, hot deck imputation was added to the editing process for EEHC_PVTEN (previous tenure status) to improve data accuracy. Also, as of the 2019 SIPP, other updates were made to status flags to reflect the data imputation processes more accurately. More status flags distinguish between 2s and 5s, and between 3s and 1s. Both 2s and 5s denote allocation, and 3s denote logical assignment. Specifically, for allocation, status flags for EEHC_MVMO (month moved in) and EEHC_PVTEN (previous tenure status), AEHC_MVMO and AEHC_PVTEN respectively, now include a separate value denoting cold deck allocation (5). Prior to the 2019 SIPP, all imputed values were denoted as 3s (logically assigned) despite some receiving cold deck values. This information is included as of the 2019 SIPP, allowing for the calculation of separate allocation rates and logical assignment rates if desired.
