2018 SIPP: Problems with Registered Domestic Partnership Data

In a very small number of cases, there is inconsistent information between the cohabiting partner identifiers (EPNCOHAB_EHC and EPNCOHAB), the registered domestic partnership variable (EREGDOMPART), and marital status information. A respondent may identify a cohabiting partner, but the registered domestic partnership variable may have a missing value, instead of appearing as a non-registered domestic partnership. In other cases, a respondent may not identify a cohabiting partner, but the registered domestic partnership variable may be filled out, instead of being blank.
