2014 Panel Wave 2: Distribution of Other Assets
The distribution of other assets (TOINVVAL) in wave two changed substantially from the assets in wave one due to a change in the hot deck imputation procedure. In wave one, to be a donor to the hot deck for other assets, a respondent must have reported assets exceeding a threshold value. However, a non-trivial number of respondents reported valid responses below this threshold. This resulted in a discrepancy in the distribution of other assets for respondents with imputed values relative to respondents with valid values. To address this problem we have removed the minimum contribution requirement to the hot deck.
