The distribution of business assets in wave two changed substantially from the assets in wave one for two reasons. First, due to a change in the hot deck imputation procedure. In wave one, to be a donor to the hot deck for business assets a respondent must have reported assets exceeding a minimum value. However, a non-trivial number of business reported valid responses below this minimum. This resulted in a discrepancy in the distribution of business assets for respondents with imputed values relative to respondents with valid values. To address this problem we have removed the minimum contribution requirement to the hot deck. Second, due to correction in the cold deck imputation procedure. Because relatively few observations are imputed from the cold deck, this second correction had a smaller impact on the overall distribution.
