2014 Panel Wave 1: Parent Mortality
This is the first time we have collected data about the dates of death for respondents' parents. Although we fully allocated the data, the user should exercise caution in interpreting these estimates, since allocation rates are high, and we have little to go on to allocate the values. We are continuing to evaluate our editing procedures for these variables.
Please note that other than EBMOM and EBDAD, the parental mortality variables have been blanked on the public use file for Wave 2 and subsequent waves, since nonresponse was high for these items, and it is difficult to impute reasonable values.
