The Small Area Health Insurance Estimates (SAHIE) now include estimates for insured and uninsured individuals in the following race groups: American Indian and Alaska Native, Asian, Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander, and Two or More Races. The new race groups were added to 2021 SAHIE and will be included in all future releases. As a partial sponsor of the SAHIE program, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Division of Cancer Prevention and Control (DCPC) requested the addition of the new race groups. The DCPC’s National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (NBCCEDP) uses SAHIE data to better reach underserved populations for cancer screening.
