New Age Group Added to SAHIE: Aged 21 to 64

The Small Area Health Insurance Estimates (SAHIE) now include estimates for insured and uninsured individuals between the ages of 21 to 64. The new age group was added to 2014 SAHIE and will be included in all future releases. As a partial sponsor of the SAHIE program, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Division of Cancer Prevention and Control (DCPC) requested the addition of the new age group. The DCPC’s National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (NBCCEDP) uses SAHIE data to better reach underserved populations for cancer screening. Federal guidelines established the eligible baseline populations for cervical screening services to target those uninsured and underinsured women aged 21 to 64 living at or below 250 percent of the federal poverty level.

These new data are available as downloadable files and via the SAHIE interactive tool.
