Protecting Your Privacy

The Census Bureau is required by law to keep your information confidential and can use your responses for statistical purposes only. The Census Bureau is not permitted to publicly release your responses in a way that could identify you. Federal law protects your privacy and keeps your answers confidential (Title 13, United States Code, Section 9) or (United States Code 20, Section 9573, and United States Code 6, Section 151). Per the Federal Cybersecurity Enhancement Act of 2015, any data you submit online are protected from cyber security risks through screening of the systems that transmit your data.

Only project staff who have signed affidavits of nondisclosure will have access to individual-level data. All information that could personally identify you will be removed from the data files.
