The U.S. Census Bureau is conducting the Management and Organizational Practices Survey to better understand current and evolving management and organizational practices and to assist in identifying determinants of establishment and productivity growth. Census data are essential for business and government decision making.

This survey will utilize the Annual Survey of Manufactures (ASM) survey panel collecting information on management and organizational practices at the establishment level.

The Management and Organizational Practices Survey provides information on the dimensions of organizational capital for sector 31-33.

The Management and Organizational Practices Survey is a supplement to the Annual Survey of Manufactures (ASM). It began as a pilot in 2010. Pending funding, it will continue as an ASM supplement approximately every five years.

The Management and Organizational Practices Survey statistics are collected from the ASM mail panel only. The ASM portion of the survey is comprised of a probability sample of approximately 50,000 manufacturing establishments from a universe of approximately 102,500 establishments.

Dissemination of the survey results by Census will consist of a press release accompanied by summary level tables.

Policy makers will use the Management and Organizational Practices Survey to understand the levels and evolution of management practices over time and to forecast future productivity growth.
