Household Pulse Survey Data Tables

The experimental Household Pulse Survey was designed to quickly and efficiently deploy data collected on how emergent issues are impacting U.S. households from a social and economic perspective. The cross-sectional data collection for the Household Pulse Survey (HPS) ended on September 16, 2024, with the final data released on October 3, 2024.

Since early October 2024, HPS content has been incorporated into a longitudinal design, which will benefit HPS data by allowing direct measurement of change over a much longer period of time in critical elements like spending, inflation, and other social and economic indicators of well-being. In the new longitudinal design, data are collected every other month starting in October 2024 and released at a national level.

Additionally, a special implementation of the Household Pulse was fielded in December 2024 to measure impacts of Hurricanes Milton and Helene in the Southeast United States. Data will be released in early 2025.

In January 2025, the HPS was relaunched as the Household Trends and Outlook Pulse Survey (HTOPS). The new longitudinal design will benefit HPS data by allowing direct measurement of change over a much longer period of time in critical elements like spending, inflation, and other social and economic indicators of well-being. More information on the transition to HTOPS is available at Evolving the Household Pulse Survey.

Phase 4.2 Household Pulse Survey Data Tables

Phase 4.1 Household Pulse Survey Data Tables

*For Cycles 1-3 of  Phase 4.0 and Cycles 4-5 of Phase 4.1, a tabulation processing error occurred due to an outdated reference year in a calculation method. This error resulted in incorrect age distributions for most of the detailed tables. The total population and other estimates were not affected. The tabulation error has been corrected for Cycle 1 through Cycle 5 and re-released July 17, 2024.

Phase 4.0 Household Pulse Survey Data Tables

*For Phase 4.0 and Cycles 4-5 of Phase 4.1, a tabulation processing error occurred due to an outdated reference year in the calculation method. This error resulted in incorrect age distributions for most of the detailed tables. The total population and other estimates were not affected. The tabulation error has been corrected for Cycle 1 through Cycle 5 and was re-released July 17, 2024.
