Errata Notes

Errata Note 1: Baldwin County, Alabama (FIPS code 01003)

The name of Voting District 37 is erroneously shown on Record Type C, Entity Type V as Ben Secour Swift School. The correct name for this Voting District is Bon Secour Swift School.

Errata Note 2: Aleutians East Borough, Alaska (FIPS code 02013)

Census block 2010 in census tract 1 is erroneously shown as part of Nelson Lagoon Alaska Native Village Statistical Area (ANVSA) (FIPS code 52945; Census code 7025). This block should not have been included in any ANVSA and the AIANHH and AIANHHCE fields should be blank.

Errata Note 3: Los Angeles County, California (FIPS Code 06037)

Census block 1011 in census tract 4002.03 is erroneously shown as part of Los Angeles city (FIPS code 44000). This block is not within a place.

Errata Note 4: Fairfield County, Connecticut (FIPS code 09001)

The boundary between Connecticut state legislative districts (lower chamber) (SLDL) 122 and 125 is incorrect. Census block 1000 in census tract 731 is erroneously assigned to SLDL 122. It should be part of SLDL 125.

Errata Note 5: New Haven County, Connecticut (FIPS code 09009)

Census block 2999 in census tract 1502 is erroneously shown as outside of any place. It is within the consolidated city of Milford city (balance) (FIPS code 47515). FIPS place code 47515 should be associated with this block.

Errata Note 6: Kent County, Delaware (FIPS code 10001)

The boundaries of the following Voting Districts are incorrect: 01-29, 01-35, 02-28, 03-34, 06-29, and 09-33.

Errata Note 8: Sussex County, Delaware (FIPS code 10005)

The boundaries of the following Voting Districts are incorrect: 01-39, 01-40, 02-36, 02-37, 02-39, 03-36, 03-37, 03-38, 04-36, 04-37, 04-38, 04-39, 05-37, 05- 38, 05-39, 05-41, 06-35, 06-36, 06-41, 07-35, 07-36, 07-37, 07-40, 07-41, and 08-35.

Errata Note 9: Duval County, Florida (FIPS code 12031)

The FIPS Class Code (FIPSCC) for Duval County, Florida is erroneously shown in Record Type C, Entity Type C as H6. The correct FIPS Class Code is H4.

Errata Note 10: Osceola County, Florida (FIPS code 12097)

The census designated place (CDP) identified as Yeehaw Junction CDP (FIPS code 78975) for Census 2000 should have been identified as Lake Buenaventura CDP (FIPS code 09415). All polygons in the Census 2000 TIGER/Line files associated with Yeehaw Junction CDP should have been associated with Lake Buenaventura CDP. Yeehaw Junction was erroneously not defined for Census 2000 and does not appear in any Census 2000 products.

Errata Note 11: Clarke County, Georgia (FIPS code 13059)

Census blocks 2021 and 2023 in census tract 130500 are erroneously shown as outside of any place. They are within Bogart town (FIPS code 09068). Census blocks 1008 and 1009 in census tract 140600 are erroneously shown as outside of any place. They are within the consolidated city of Athens-Clarke city (balance) (FIPS code 03440). Errata Note 16: Caddo Parish, Louisiana (FIPS code 22017)

Some voting district names for Caddo Parish, Louisiana (22017) are incorrect in Record Type C of the Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line file. We are providing the correct names as an ASCII text file vd22017.txt, and as an ASCII file using the Record Type C record layout vd22017.era. Using the file in Record Type C layout, data users can locate and replace the Record Type C records with the incorrect voting district names with Record Type C records containing the corrected voting district names.

Errata Note 17: Essex County, Massachusetts (FIPS code 25009)

In the Town of Amesbury (FIPS code 01185), Amesbury Precinct 2 (VTD 306) is incorrectly included as part of Amesbury Precinct 1 (VTD 305). That is, the area shown in the Census 2000 TIGER/Line files as Amesbury Precinct 1 (VTD 305) comprises the area of both Amesbury Precinct 1 (VTD 305) and Amesbury Precinct 2 (VTD 306).

Saugus Census Designated Place (CDP) (FIPS code 60050) should be coextensive with Saugus town (FIPS code 60015). It should comprise a coextensive whole town CDP, but does not. Saugus CDP should include census blocks 1996 and 1997 in census tract 2081.02.

Errata Note 18: Hampden County, Massachusetts (FIPS code 2501

The boundaries of two state legislative districts (upper chamber) (SLDU) are incorrect because whole towns are assigned an incorrect SLDU code. The SLDU code for Westfield town (FIP code 76030) is incorrectly shown as 12. The correct SLDU code for Westfield town is 14. The SLDU code for West Springfield town (FIPS code 77850) is incorrectly shown as 14. The correct SLDU code for West Springfield town is 12.

Errata Note 19: Hampshire County, Massachusetts (FIPS code 25015)

The boundaries of two state legislative districts (upper chamber) (SLDU) are incorrect because whole towns are assigned an incorrect SLDU code. The SLDU code for Southampton town (FIPS code 62745) is incorrectly shown as 11. The correct SLDU for Southampton town is 14. The SLDU code for South Hadley town (FIPS code 64145) is incorrectly shown as 14. The correct SLDU code for South Hadley town is 11.

Errata Note 20: Middlesex County, Massachusetts (FIPS code 25017)

The boundaries of two state legislative districts (upper chamber) (SLDU) are incorrect because whole Voting Districts are assigned an incorrect SLDU code. The SLDU code for Voting District Woburn Ward 2 Precinct 1 (VTD code 1253) is incorrectly shown as 18. The correct SLDU code for Woburn Ward 2 Precinct 1 is 16. The SLDU code for Voting District Woburn Ward 2 Precinct 2 (VTD code 1254) is incorrectly shown as 18. The correct SLDU code for Woburn Ward 2 Precinct 2 is 16.

Census block 5014 in census tract 3372.02 is erroneously shown as part of Stoneham town (FIPS code 67665). This block should be part of Woburn city (FIPS code 81035). Stoneham Census Designated Place (CDP) should be coextensive with Stoneham town (a coextensive whole town CDP), but is not because block 5104 in census tract 3372.02 was erroneously included in Stoneham town.

Errata Note 21: Suffolk County, Massachusetts (FIPS code 25025)

The FIPS Class Code (FIPSCC) for Suffolk County, Massachusetts is erroneously shown in Record Type C, Entity Type C as H4. The correct FIPS Class Code is H6.

The Census Bureau did not ensure that the boundaries of these Voting Districts maintained their relationship with the township boundaries during the final processing of township boundary changes received by the Census Bureau.

Errata Note 23: St. Louis County, Missouri (FIPS code 29189)

The misspelling of a Voting District name in St. Louis County resulted in two separate Voting Districts rather than a single Voting District. After correcting the spelling of the Voting District name for VTD 231 in the Census 2000 TIGER/Line files, Voting Districts 231 and 232 have identical names and should be a single Voting District.

Errata Note 24: Deer Lodge County, Montana (FIPS code 30023)

The FIPS Class Code (FIPSCC) for Dear Lodge County, Montana is erroneously shown in Record Type C, Entity Type C as H4. The correct FIPS Class Code is H6.

Errata Note 25: Silver Bow County, Montana (FIPS code 30093)

The FIPS Class Code (FIPSCC) for Silver Bow County, Montana is erroneously shown in Record Type C, Entity Type C as H4. The correct FIPS Class Code is H6.

Errata Note 26: Garden County, Nebraska (FIPS code 31069)

Lisco CDP is erroneously shown on Record Type C, Entity Type P with the Name "Cisco" (FIPS code 09112). The FIPS code for Lisco would be 28315.

Errata Note 27: Summit County, Ohio (FIPS code 39153)

The county subdivision code for Green Village (FIPS code 31860) is incorrect. The county subdivision code should be the same as the place code for Green Village (FIPS code 31664).

Errata Note 28: Adair County, Oklahoma (FIPS code 40001)

Marietta CDP (FIPS code 46780) is erroneously shown on Record Type C, Entity Type P with the Name "Maryetta".

Errata Note 29: McCurtain County, Oklahoma (FIPS code 40089)

American Indian tribal subdivision County District 1 is erroneously shown with a FIPS code of 11111. The correct FIPS code for County District 1 American Indian tribal subdivsion is 17577.

Errata Note 30: Sequoyah County, Oklahoma (FIPS Code 40135)

Carlisle CDP (FIPS code 11975) is erroneously shown on Record Type C, Entity Type P with the Name "Carlile". Pinhook Corner CDP (FIPS code 59125) is erroneously shown on Record Type C, Entity Type P with the Name "Pinhook Corners". Stoney Point CDP (FIPS code 70575) is erroneously shown on Record Type C, Entity Type P with the Name "Stony Point".

Errata Note 31: Davidson County, Tennessee (FIPS code 47037)

Census blocks 1001 and 1008 in census tract 171 are erroneously shown as outside of any place. They are within the consolidated city of Nashville-Davidson city (balance) (FIPS code 52006). FIPS place code 52006 should be associated with these blocks.

Errata Note 32: Moore County, Tennessee (FIPS code 47127)

The FIPS Class Code (FIPSCC) for Moore County, Tennessee is erroneously shown in Record Type C, Entity Type C as H4. The correct FIPS Class Code is H6.

Errata Note 33: Brown County, Wisconsin (FIPS Code 55009)

Census blocks 2048, 2063, and 2064 in census tract 203 are erroneously shown in Scott town (FIPS code 72200). They should be in Pulaski village (FIPS code 65675). Census block 2049 in census tract 203 is erroneously shown in Pittsfield town (FIPS 63075). It should be within Pulaski village (FIPS code 65675). Errata Note 34: Martin County, Texas (FIPS code 48317)

The Place Description Code (PLACEDC) for Midland city (FIPS code 48072) is erroneously shown in Record Type C, Entity Type P as 3. The correct Place Description code is 0.

Errata Note 35: Nueces County, Texas (FIPS code 48355)

The Place Description Code (PLACEDC) for Ingleside city (FIPS code 36008) is erroneously shown in Record Type C, Entity Type P as 8. The correct Place Description code is 0.

Errata Note 36: Cass County, Missouri (FIPS code 29037)

Blocks in the Cass County portion of Kansas City city (FIPS code 38000) are erroneously shown with a PUMA5 code of 009002. The correct PUMA5 code is 01004.

User Notes

User Note 1: Coconino County, Arizona (FIPS code 04005)

The Alternative Feature ID codes (FEAT) appearing in Record Types 4 and 5 in the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line file for Coconino County, Arizona differ from the FEAT codes appearing in the Census 2000 and Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line files. The U.S. Census Bureau found a duplicate feature name in the Census TIGER database which was corrected before the creation of the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line files. Removing the duplicate name resulted in one less record in Record Type 5 for the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line files and the change in the FEAT codes.

User Note 2: St. Louis County, Minnesota (FIPS code 27137)

Kabetogama UT (FIPS code 32252) was incorrectly spelled on Record Type C, Entity Type M in the Census 2000 and Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line files as Kabetogema. The name was corrected to Kabetogama in the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line files.

User Note 3: Stillwater County, Montana (FIPS code 30095)

North Stillwater Census County Division (CCD) (FIPS code 92510) was incorrectly spelled on Record Type C, Entity Type M in the Census 2000 and Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line files as "Norh Stillwater". The name was corrected to North Stillwater in the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line files

User Note 4: De Baca County, New Mexico (FIPS code 35011)

East De Baca Census County Division (CCD) (FIPS code 91110) was incorrectly spelled on Record Type C, Entity Type M in the Census 2000 and Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line files as "East DeBaca". The name was corrected to East De Baca in the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line files. West De Baca CCD (FIPS code 93750) was incorrectly spelled on Record Type C, Entity Type M in the Census 2000 and Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line files as "West DeBaca". The name was corrected to West De Baca in the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line files.

User Note 5: Montgomery County, Ohio (FIPS code 39113)

Clayton city (FIPS code 15644) and Riverside city (FIPS code 67168) were erroneously shown on Record Type C, Entity Type M with a Legal/Statistical Area Description Code (LSADC) of 47 in the Census 2000 and Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line files. The LSADC was corrected to 25 in the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line files.

User Note 6: Sandusky County, Ohio (FIPS code 39143)

Clyde township (FIPS code 16308) was erroneously shown on Record Type C, Entity Type M with a FIPS Class Code (FIPSCC) of C5 in the Census 2000 and Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line files. The FIPSCC was corrected to Z1 in the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line files.

User Note 7: Summit County, Ohio (FIPS code 39153)

Green city (FIPS code 31664) was erroneously shown on Record Type C, Entity Type M with a Legal/Statistical Area Description Code (LSADC) of 47 in the Census 2000 and UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line files. The LSADC was corrected to 25 in the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line files.

User Note 8: Dewey County, South Dakota (FIPS code 46041)

Isabel town (FIPS code 32140) was erroneously shown on Record Type C, Entity Type M with a Legal/Statistical Area Description Code (LSADC) of 25 in the Census 2000 and UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line files. The LSADC was corrected to 43 in the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line files.

User Note 9: Changes to Place Description Codes

The U.S. Census Bureau has made numerous changes to the Place Description Codes (PLACEDC) appearing on Record Type C in the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line files. These changes are a result of the delineation of the Census 2000 Urban Areas.

User Note 10: Minor Civil Division Code 000

The UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line files include Minor Civil Division (MCD) code 00000 in Record Type C, Entity Type M which did not appear in the Redistricting Census 2000 or Census 2000 versions of the TIGER/Line files. The U.S. Census Bureau assigns this default county subdivision code of 00000 in some coastal and Great Lakes water where county subdivisions do not extend into the Great Lakes or out to the three-mile limit. This change to the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line files was made to be consistent with the Census 2000 Summary Files where MCD code 00000 appears.

User Note 11: Additional Area Landmarks in Record Type 7

The UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line files contain additional area landmarks that did not appear in the Redisticting Census 2000 or Census 2000 TIGER/Line files. The U.S. Census Bureau added a new type of area landmark, D57 (Airport-Statistical Representation used as part of urban area delineation), to Record Type 7. The Census TIGER database names standardizer has affected the way the D57 Airport Names appear in the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line files. The standardizer changes all letters to lower case in a word after an initial upper case letter resulting in AFF appearing as Aff. It also capitalizes the first letter after a word beginning with Mc, thus MCAS becomes McAs. The Landmark Name field on Record Type 7 is 30 characters long, resulting in the truncation of names exceeding 30 characters.

Additional area landmarks also appear in American Samoa in Eastern District (FIPS code 60010) and Western District (FIPS code 60050).

User Note 12: Differences Between the UA Census 2000 and Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line files

This user note is intended for data users who were working with the Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line files, but did not use the Census 2000 TIGER/Line files. The U.S. Census Bureau has identified some differences between the Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line files and the UA Census 2000 and Census 2000 versions of the TIGER/Line files. The U.S. Census Bureau has identified the following differences:

Maricopa County, Arizona (FIPS Code 04013)

The U.S. Census Bureau has identified some differences between TLIDs in the Redistricting Census 2000 and the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line files in Maricopa County, Arizona (04013). The line segments identified in the Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line file with TLIDs 128396969 and 128397332 do not appear in the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line file. The line segment identified by TLID 128358060 in the Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line file became TLID 128832504 in the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line file. TLID 128588794 in the Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line file became TLID 128832505 in the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line file.

Clay County, Missouri (FIPS Code 29047)

The U.S. Census Bureau has determined that Clay County, Missouri (29047) was not edgematched against adjoining Jackson County, Missouri before the creation of the Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line file for Clay County. When Clay and Jackson Counties, Missouri were edgematched before the creation of the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line files, TLID 89768904 in the Clay County Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line file became three line segments, identified by TLIDs 89782981, 89782982, and 89782983, in the Clay County, Missouri UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line file.

Clark County, Nevada (FIPS Code 32003)

The U.S. Census Bureau has identified some differences between TLIDs in the Redistricting Census 2000 and the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line files in Clark County, Nevada (32003). TLID 201966986 in the Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line file became TLID 201967413 in the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line file.

Clermont County, Ohio (FIPS Code 39025)

The U.S. Census Bureau has determined that Clermont County, Ohio (39025) was not edgematched against adjoining Warren County, Ohio before the creation of the Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line file for Clermont County. When Clermont and Warrent Counties, Ohio were edgematched before the creation of the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line files, TLID 118457848 in the Clermont County Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line file became two line segments, identified by TLIDs 118464680 and 118464681, in the Clermont County, Ohio UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line file.

Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma (FIPS Code 40125)

The U.S. Census Bureau has identified some differences between TLIDs in the Redistricting Census 2000 and the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line files in Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma (40125). TLID 100588799 in the Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line file became TLID 100601171 in the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line file.

Cambria County, Pennslyvania (FIPS Code 42021)

The U.S. Census Bureau has identified some differences between TLIDs in the Redistricting Census 2000 and the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line files in Cambria County, Pennsylvania (42021). The line segment in the Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line file identified by TLID 50264274 does not appear in the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line file. TLID 50267166 in the Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line file became TLID 50267346 in the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line file.

Georgetown County, South Carolina (FIPS Code 45043)

The U.S. Census Bureau has identified a new, additional polygon in the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line file for Georgetown County, South Carolina (45043) that did not exist in the Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line file. This polygon is identified by CENID-POLYID C5672-5375.

Custer County, South Dakota (FIPS Code 46033)

The U.S. Census Bureau has identified some differences between TLIDs in the Redistricting Census 2000 and the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line file for Custer County, South Dakota (46033) and a new, additional polygon in the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line file that did not exist in the Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line file. TLID 193015802 in the Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line file became TLIDs 193019394 and 193019395 in the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line file. The new polygon in the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line file is identified by CENID-POLYID C5752-4066.

Burleson County, Texas (FIPS Code 48051)

The U.S. Census Bureau has identified a difference between TLIDs in the Redistricting Census 2000 and the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line files in Burleson County, Texas (48051) and a new, additional polygon in th UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line file that did not exist in the Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line file. The line segment in the Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line file identified by TLID 24814011 does not appear in the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line file. The new polygon in the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line file is identified by CENID-POLYID C6094-2266.

McLennan County, Texas (FIPS Code 48309)

The U.S. Census Bureau has identified a difference between TLIDs in the Redistricting Census 2000 and the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line files in McLennan County, Texas (48309) and a new, additional polygon in the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line file that did not exist in the Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line file. TLID 146762093 in the Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line file became TLIDs 146771169 and 146771170 in the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line file. The new polygon in the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line file is identified by CENID-POLYID C6352-1248.

Las Piedras Municipio, Puerto Rico (FIPS Code 72085)

The U.S. Census Bureau has identified a difference between TLIDs in the Redistricting Census 2000 and the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line files in Las Piedras Municipio, Puerto Rico (72085). TLID 205960331 in the Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line file became TLID 205964380 in the UA Census 2000 TIGER/Line file.

User Note 13: Louisiana - Voting Districts

The Louisiana Legislature reviewed the voting districts as provided to the state in the Redistricting Census 2000 TIGER/Line files for the Louisiana parishes and has determined that there are some discrepancies. Based upon these discrepancies, the Louisiana Legislature has made technical corrections to the voting districts of several parishes to accurately represent the precinct geography of the state of Louisiana. The following parishes had technical corrections made to their voting districts: Acadia, Bienville, Bossier, Calcasieu, East Baton Rouge, Grant, Jefferson, Lafourche, Madison, Orleans, Ouachita, Pointe Coupee, Richland, St. Bernard, St. Landry, Terrebonne, and West Feliciana. The Louisiana State Data Center maintains equivalency files for these parishes for those interested in the corrections that were made.
