Validating Results

The U.S. Census Bureau will validate results obtained from the SynLBD on the internal, confidential version of these data. Researchers who wish to obtain validated results must follow the protocol outlined below.

Validation Protocol

  • Researchers will receive a set of programming requirements to ensure successful program completion
  • Note: Only SAS and STATA code will be accepted for validation
  • After error free programs run in the researcher’s local environment:

Analyses will be reviewed by a U.S. Census Bureau Disclosure Avoidance Officer. Disclosure review can take considerable time due to resource constraints and the disclosure protocol.

Researchers should work with U.S. Census Bureau staff to allow time for review. There can be large delays in validation due to resource constraints.

Approved output is released to researchers and the Statistics of Income Program at the Internal Revenue Service.
