The Boundary and Annexation Survey (BAS) provides tribal, state, and general-purpose local governments an opportunity to review the Census Bureau’s legal boundary data to ensure the Census Bureau has the correct boundary, name, and status information. The Census Bureau emails annual response information to all federally recognized American Indian areas, counties and county equivalent areas, incorporated places, and minor civil divisions (MCDs).
The Census Bureau requests all governments respond to BAS to report whether their government has boundary changes to report, and to review and update contact information. Governments may respond using one of the following methods
