Ceasing Release of Foreign Inventories Data
Starting with the publication of the 2017 survey year in February 2019, the Annual Wholesale Trade Survey (AWTS) will cease disseminating data from respondents on foreign inventories, the value of inventories stored outside of (or en route to) the 50 states and the District of Columbia. This change is the result of an internal review of the data in accordance with the Census Bureau’s quality standards. Data on the Inventories Held Inside and Outside the U.S. will continue to be collected in future survey years to assist in data analysis – however, it will not be disseminated. The previously released foreign inventories data will still be available to data users and can be found here.
