The purpose of this document is to provide detailed information regarding each AHS metropolitan area and the geographic boundaries that were used in each survey year (1973 through 2013).
Within this document metropolitan areas are presented in alphabetical order. For each area, the National sample metropolitan area definition is presented, followed by the longitudinal history of the Metropolitan sample and the definition that was used for the Metropolitan sample by survey year.
