The date and the term “definitions” should be modified in the current table note on the 2014-2018 American Community Survey (ACS) 5-year tables regarding metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas.
The current data note on all tables currently states the following:
"While the 2014-2018 American Community Survey (ACS) data generally reflect the February 2013 Office of Management and Budget (OMB) definitions of metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas; in certain instances the names, codes, and boundaries of the principal cities shown in ACS tables may differ from the OMB definitions due to differences in the effective dates of the geographic entities."
However, this note should read as follows (corrections in bold):
"While the 2014-2018 American Community Survey (ACS) data generally reflect the August 2017 Office of Management and Budget (OMB) delineations of metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas; in certain instances the names, codes, and boundaries of the principal cities shown in ACS tables may differ from the OMB delineations due to differences in the effective dates of the geographic entities."
