There are thousands of changes to Census geography this year, including additions, deletions, code changes, and spatial changes where geographic entities may have significantly expanded or contracted.
You can visit the Geography Boundaries by Year page to determine what vintage is being used for a particular geographic area. For example, census designated places (CDPs), tracts, and block groups all use 2020 Census boundaries.
In addition, the Geography Division published the Geographic Relationship Files to assist data users in understanding the comparability for geographies such as block groups, tracts, county subdivisions, places, and ZIP Code Tabulation Areas between 2020 and 2010. Code changes, additions, and deletions that impact the 2020 ACS are documented in the spreadsheet below.
