The Census Bureau has identified errors in the calculation of the margin of error (MOE) for table B20004 - Median Earnings by Sex by Educational Attainment for the Population 25 Years and Over- that affect the 2007-2009 3-year, 2005-2009 5-year, 2006-2010 5-year and 2007-2011 5-year. All estimates for this table are correct.
An alternative formula is used when replicate estimates are in either the top or bottom open-ended categories (below $2,500 or above $250,000). The formula requires a value that was calculated incorrectly.
The majority of the MOEs are not affected. For the MOEs which are affected, the published MOE is, in general, more conservative than the actual MOE.
This error will not be corrected.
