“Worker.gov was created by the U.S. Department of Labor to provide information about worker’s rights and common workplace concerns. This site is not intended to be comprehensive. This compliance assistance tool covers various topics and labor laws enforced by several federal agencies:

  • The Department of Labor’s mission is to foster, promote and develop the welfare of the wage earners, job seekers and retirees of the United States; improve working conditions; advance opportunities for profitable employment; and assure work-related benefits and rights.
  • The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) enforces Federal laws prohibiting employment practices that discriminate on the grounds of race, sex, disability, religion, national origin, and citizenship status.
  • The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) is an independent Federal agency vested with the power to safeguard employees’ rights to organize and to determine whether to have unions as their bargaining representative. The agency also acts to prevent and remedy unfair labor practices committed by private-sector employers and unions.”
