Commerce Secretary William M. Daley and Census Bureau Director Kenneth Prewitt will announce a new initiative to encourage participation in Census 2000 at the grassroots level in a news conference at the National Press Club on Tuesday, Jan. 11, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. EST.
The initiative, called How America Knows What America Needs, challenges communities to increase participation levels in Census 2000 over their 1990 levels.
