Shirin Ahmed

Shirin Ahmed is chief of the Economic Planning and Coordination Division at the U.S. Census Bureau. Ahmed directs the large-scale operations associated with the economic censuses, which are conducted every five years. The economic census represents the largest collection of information about businesses in the United States. Additionally, she oversees activities for ongoing programs that produce important statistics, such as County Business Patterns, annual nonemployer statistics and the Medical Expenditures Panel Survey. Ahmed holds degrees in business finance and economics from the University of Maryland and a graduate degree in economics from Georgetown University.
