APRIL 15, 2025 — The U.S. Census Bureau today released new tables and files containing detailed data from its 2024 Annual Survey of State Government Tax Collections (STC). It provides information on different taxes imposed and collected by state governments and the District of Columbia. These data cover five broad tax categories and up to 25 tax subcategories.
The U.S. Congress, federal agencies, state and local governments, educational and research organizations, and the public use this information to examine and develop such things as tax policy, gross domestic product (GDP) estimates, and national income and product accounts.
For more specific details on the STC, please refer to the Technical Documentation. No news release is associated with this product. Tip sheet only.
