NOV. 19, 2024 – The U.S. Census Bureau today released updated versions of the Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics (LEHD) Origin-Destination Employment Statistics (LODES) data product and the OnTheMap application.
OnTheMap is a web-based mapping and reporting application that enables access to the LEHD Origin-Destination Employment Statistics dataset showing where people work and where workers live. OnTheMap was developed through a unique partnership between the Census Bureau and its Local Employment Dynamics (LED) partner states.
The new LODES 8.3 release includes 2022 data and previously absent 2019-2021 data for Arkansas. OnTheMap and LODES now contain 2002-2022 employment data for most states – exceptions include data for Alaska from 2017 to 2022, Mississippi from 2019 to 2022 and Michigan for 2022. The underlying geography in OnTheMap has been updated to the 2023 Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing (TIGER) system.
