Census Bureau Will Hold Webinar on 2010 Census Demonstration Data Product

Press Release Number CB22-CN.18

What:

The U.S. Census Bureau is scheduled to release Aug. 25 the final round of 2010 Census demonstration data and performance metrics for the Disclosure Avoidance System (DAS) that will be used for the 2020 Census Demographic and Housing Characteristics File (DHC). A webinar will be held Aug. 31 to discuss the new demonstration data and respond to questions.

As with previous versions, these demonstration data apply the current iteration of the DAS to 2010 Census data. This allows a side-by-side comparison of the impact of this version of the DAS against the published 2010 Census tables.

The DHC is the successor to the 2010 Census Summary File 1 and includes a range of demographic and housing information. Tables include data on sex, age, Hispanic origin, race, relationship to householder, group quarters, household and family type, couple type, tenure, and vacancy. More information about the DHC is available on the About 2020 Census Data Products webpage.

When:

Wednesday, Aug. 31, at 3 p.m. ET (webinar).

Who:

Subject-matter experts from the Census Bureau’s Population Division

Access:

The webinar will consist of a simultaneous audio conference and online presentation. Attendees will be able to ask questions before and during the presentation.

Please log in 10-15 minutes early, as some setup is required. An updated browser is recommended.

A 30-day public feedback period begins Aug. 26 and will end Sept. 26. This is the final opportunity to provide feedback on the DAS that will be used for the DHC before production settings are finalized. The release of the final 2020 Census DHC data product remains slated for May 2023.
