The Opportunity Project Summit: Open Innovation for All

WHAT:

On December 13 through 15, the Census Open Innovation Labs will host The Opportunity Project (TOP) Summit: Open Innovation for All. TOP helps companies, nonprofits, and universities turn federal open data into new technologies that solve real world problems. This multiday virtual conference will showcase the work accomplished through TOP’s ‘The World Post-Covid-19’ 2021 sprints.

Attendees will be able to join sessions such as:

  • Keynote remarks from federal agency, civil society, and technology industry leaders.
  • Lightning talks and live demos featuring more than 30 products created in TOP sprints this year.
  • Awards ceremony announcing the winners of more than $250,000 and nonmonetary prizes in The Open Data for Good Grand Challenge.
  • Hands-on learning session for federal, state, and local agencies on technology, design and government innovation.
  • Spotlights on work of our partners and collaborators from across government, industry, civic-tech, universities, and Non-Governmental Organizations.
  • Roundtable discussions on topics such as meaningful partnerships with Historically Black Colleges and Universities, data equity, thought diversity, and language inclusion.

TOP’s 2021 sprint cycle was co-led by: the U.S. Census Bureau, the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the City of Coral Gables, Florida, and the New York City Mayor’s Office of the Chief Technology Officer.
