Census Bureau CISO Among Winners of 2021 CyberScoop 50 Awards

OCT. 20, 2021 – The U.S. Census Bureau announced that Beau Houser, the Census Bureau’s Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), received a 2021 CyberScoop 50 award under the category of Government Leadership.

According to CyberScoop, the Government Leadership award is awarded to “transformational leaders who implement new strategies, technologies and programs to help all levels of government function in smarter ways.”

Houser assumed the role of CISO for the Census Bureau in September 2019, leading the agency’s cybersecurity program, which includes the 2020 Census and the Census Bureau as a whole.

Prior to the Census Bureau, Beau served as the CISO for the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Deputy CISO for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services where he fulfilled the role of Executive Director for Marketplace Security, which included cybersecurity responsibilities for healthcare.gov. Houser holds a master’s degree in Cyber Systems and Operations from the Naval Postgraduate School and a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from Barry University. He also holds an Information Systems Security Professional certification with a concentration in Engineering.
