Press Release Number CB20-TPS.02

Jan. 28, 2020 – The U.S. Census Bureau released the first statistics from the 2017 Economic Census of Island Areas. Island and local area estimates are now available for American Samoa, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI), Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI). The data for Puerto Rico will be released in December of 2020.

Island and local area estimates are available at the 2- through selected 5-digit North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code levels for all covered NAICS codes that meet publication standards. These statistics include the number of establishments, total employment, annual payroll and total sales and receipts or revenue. Data on expenses, inventories and a wide variety of statistics are also available for selected sectors.

Estimates for CNMI and Guam are shown for the whole island area and municipalities (county-equivalents). Estimates for American Samoa and the USVI are shown for the whole island area, county-equivalents (districts in American Samoa and each island in the USVI) and place-equivalents (counties in American Samoa and towns in the USVI).
