"Census Bureau Jobs Available in Providence County, Rhode Island "

NOTE TO CORRESPONDENTS

JAN. 10, 2018 — The U.S. Census Bureau is accepting applications for more than 1,000 temporary positions for the 2018 Census Test in Providence County, R.I.

The majority of these positions are for work as an enumerator for the 2018 Census Test. This involves contacting residents of Providence County to complete their census questionnaire. There are also some field supervisor positions and office jobs available. The pay rate for enumerators working on this important test is $21.25/hour. This is a temporary, part-time job with flexible hours and paid training. Applicants can apply online by visiting www.census.gov/2018jobs.

The 2018 Census Test is a critical part of the nation’s 2020 Census. The test area includes approximately 265,000 housing units in Providence County. This is an opportunity for residents in the area to provide insight into the final stages of planning for a complete and accurate 2020 Census. The 2018 Census Test will test and validate 2020 Census operations, procedures, systems and field infrastructure to ensure proper integration for the decennial census.

Help sessions for applicants will take place in specified locations for those who do not have access to the internet and need a place to apply or need assistance applying.

As the 2020 Census draws closer, other job opportunities will be available nationwide. The Census Bureau expects to hire hundreds of thousands of temporary workers in 2019 and 2020 to assist with validating addresses and conducting follow-up with households that do not respond.
