Did you know that overall, the U.S. economy took 3 ½ years to return to its pre-recession peak in terms of output? For manufacturing, it has taken a full six years to return to the pre-recession peak. Find out more on May 16 at approximately 9:15-10 a.m. EDT as Erich Strassner, chief of the Industry Applications Division at the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, discusses BEA’s first-ever quarterly statistics on how much economic activity is generated by different industries. Each Friday, C-SPAN’s “America by the Numbers” segment features information from the federal statistical system. The program highlights the trends and allows the public to call in or email their views. More information on previous C-SPAN programs is available at <http://www.census.gov/newsroom/cspan.html>.
