Join Us at the Annual American Association for Public Opinion Research Conference

Researchers from the U.S. Census Bureau, along with many other survey research professionals across the nation, will present findings at the 71st annual American Association for Public Opinion Research Conference on May 12-15, 2016 in Austin, Texas. The theme is “Reshaping the Research Landscape: Public Opinion and Data Science.”

Census Bureau staffers will present research findings on a spectrum of topics entitled:

  • Survey Research Today and Tomorrow
  • Reducing Respondent Contact Burden in the American Community Survey
  • How Effective is a Prenotice Letter for Increasing Self-Response
  • Digital Advertising: Encouraging Participation in the Decennial Census
  • Advancements in Cross-Cultural and Multilingual Questionnaire Design and Pretesting
  • Identifying Hard-to-Survey Populations Using Low Response Scores by Census Tract
  • Communicating Data Use and Privacy: In-Person Versus Web-Based Methods for Message Testing
  • Implementing Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) in a Survey Organization
  • Methodological Challenges and Opportunities in Web Survey Usability Evaluation
  • Continuing to Explore the Relationship Between Economic and Political Conditions and Government Survey Refusal Rates: 1960 to 2015
  • Validating Self-Reported Health Insurance Coverage

This multiday conference is a forum for Census Bureau staffers to present and discuss their research on public opinion and survey research for professional discussion.
