How do you stay on the pulse of America’s Economy, one that is constantly changing? Now you will have economic indicators available at your fingertips with today’s release of our first-ever mobile app.

America’s Economy gives economists, planners, policy makers and everyone easy and quick access to key indicators about the health of the U.S. economy via their mobile devices. The app combines statistics from the Census Bureau, Bureau of Economic Analysis and Bureau of Labor Statistics to provide a snapshot of our nation’s constantly changing economy and markets.

It is an exciting day to see America’s Economy come to fruition after months of planning to deliver our economic indicators to the American public on mobile devices. The app fulfills a key component of the new Federal Digital Strategy by providing easier access to government information.

The America’s Economy app includes 16 key economic indicators. Among the economic indicators available are the unemployment rate, gross domestic product, new residential construction and international trade, just to name a few. Users will be able to set alerts to receive notifications when indicators are updated. They can also add statistical release schedules to their personal calendars. When each indicator is released, users can also share the news on both Facebook and Twitter.

Download America’s Economy for your Android smartphone or tablet today on Google Play. In a few weeks, Apple users will also be able to download the app for iPhones and iPads. You can also tell us what you think by sending us your feedback to cnmp.web.comments.list@census.gov.

America’s Economy is the first of three planned apps from the Census Bureau that will be made available over the next several months. Each app will be available for Apple and Android smartphones and tablets. These apps will serve as new ways to access Census Bureau and government statistics.

We hope you enjoy using America’s Economy and find it a useful snapshot of our nation’s key economic indicators. Stay tuned as we continue to offer new ways to provide statistics to the public on how the Census Bureau measures America’s people, places and economy.
